Kinds   Genesis 1:9 – 25

Kinds are what all plants,animals and humans are descended from. Living things are not all descended from a common ancestor, but from the kinds that God created in the beginning.

Our children are taught in school, and it is almost universally accepted in our postmodern universities, that all living things evolved from a few simple amino acids that miraculously formed from a primordial soup, billions of years ago. Very little mention is made of where this soup came from, other than the Big Bang, where a very unstable “nothing” exploded and became everything. But even with the materials already being in place by some unaccepted miracle in the first place, the accepted age of the universe, at about 13 billion years, simply isn’t long enough for even the most basic life to have formed.

Note that there are websites on the internet, such as TalkOrigins, as an example, that mock Christians and our science, “showing” how easy it is for this to happen in a “relatively” short time. The elephant in the room is the fact that although they have created amino acids in the lab under perfectly controlled conditions with exactly the right chemicals, they have only created amino acids, and even at that there are multiple problems. For one thing, the same thing has never been observed, and even the most secular of scientists no longer believe that early Earth had the conditions set up in the lab. For another, they have found no self-replicating mechanism, nor any way to form these amino acids into proteins, nor any explanation for what happened to the other half of the amino acids that were formed, since all the right handed amino acids are almost non-existent in nature. Astrophysicists of today suggest that the reason for this is that the left handed amino acids probably came from space.

In fact, one of the favourite suggestions by some scientists, today, including the infamous atheist and evolutionary biologist, Richard Dawkins, is that aliens probably seeded the earth with life.

On the other hand, the Bible gives us the clearest and most logical answer that there is – that a Primary Cause from outside of space and time, God, created all things, including the very atoms of the universe and life in all its forms and kinds.

Everything about Creation was ordered. There was never any huge explosion of an imaginary singularity that somehow broke the laws of the universe that today’s cosmologists tell us created everything by turning chaos into order. The Bible, God’s revelation of Himself to us, tells us that everything was created in a very specific and ordered way.

Beware of falling into the trap of believing that the Book of Genesis is all allegorical language explaining to a primitive people what science now knows to be very different. The Bible deals in absolutes, because it is given by an absolute, immutable God. Secular cosmology deals in absolutely wild speculation by atheists who have no idea what happened, because they refuse to believe in an all powerful Primary Cause, or God. Richard Dawkins’ atheism has so blinded him that he found himself terribly perplexed at the laughter of the audience at a debate he was in when he proclaimed that something can come from nothing. Real Science Radio host Bob Enyart observed that, “The most famous atheist is the one who can say the greatest absurdity with the straightest face.” Dawkins has, in fact, speculated that maybe highly evolved aliens designed some form of life and seeded it on this planet. He has no explanation for where they came from, nor can he, an evolutionary biologist, even explain the formation of DNA by evolution.

The Bible, God’s own Word, clearly, simply and logically tells us that God did it, and in what order. God created everything, including all life. He created kinds, not a single cell that morphed into trees, bananas, banana slugs, monkeys and people.

I Dry Land

1. On the third day, after God created the heaven and the earth, the light, the firmament separating the water on this new planet from the water above the firmament, God separated the water on the new planet from the land.
   1. Recall that God called the firmament heaven, which includes everything from the surface of the Earth to the edge of the universe. At this time, there was light, but there was no sun, no moon and no stars. They would be created the following day.
      1. There was no problem for God to have created the light, no conflict of any kind, contrary to the mocking of those who reject God. God IS light. “This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.” 1 John 1:5
2. We cannot assume that the dry land was one big continent or Pangaea, as evolutionary scientists tell us. No evidence has been found that such a super-continent ever existed. No evidence has been found that such a super-continent did not exist, either. The idea that all the continents can be fit together like a giant jigsaw puzzle is similar to my two year old granddaughter forcing the wrong piece into the puzzle somewhere. It can sometimes be done by force, but it’s not right.
   1. Ongoing plate tectonics, the claim that continents are moving toward or away from each other, has not been proven, even though most people think it has. There are many theories about plate movement, but the so-called measurements by NASA and others have not actually shown any real movement, but instead, possible fluctuations. These long age, evolutionary scientists claim that “the plates move at a constant rate and move rigidly, so that there is no motion within the plates.” The problem is that, as they have admitted, the same scientists have measure a contraction of the Texas-Massachusetts baseline within the rigid North American Plate!
      1. It is important to remember when we are being told how one continent is slowly sliding under another that the continents are, on average, 100 kilometres thick! To bend and move such massively solid structures would be in the realm of catastrophic, very rapidly occurring events, an event such as the Bible has recorded for us, when we get to the global flood in Noah’s day.
      2. No known mechanism has been discovered or observed, today, that could cause the continents to slowly “drift.” The idea of everything fitting together like a jigsaw puzzle into one giant continent is fanciful thinking based on philosophy, not science.
3. The Bible says that the waters on the earth were gathered together into one place, which God called Seas. This neither a contradiction, nor a mistranslation. The word translated Seas is singular in the Hebrew, yet the plural translation is still correct in English. All the ocean water on the planet forms one massive body, yet we refer to it as the Seven Seas.

II Flora

1. After God caused the dry land to appear, he created all the flora. This included the various grasses, herbs and trees. Each one was created as a specific kind, each producing its own seed, specific to its kind.

   1. The trees produced fruit specific to each tree’s kind. That means that each tree only has the ability to reproduce itself. Peach trees do not grow bananas, nor do apple trees ever grow oranges. Lawngrass does not produce wheat. Basil never grows chili peppers. God created every example of flora on the planet after its kind, only able to reproduce its own kind.

      1. This does not rule out variation, which happens and is observed.

III Sun, Moon and Stars

1. 1. 1. In the last message, we looked at the firmament, and at the fact that God placed the sun, moon and stars in this firmament, which He called Heaven. God created the sun, moon and stars on the fourth day, after he had created the heaven and earth, the light, and the various kinds of grasses, herbs and trees.

         1. God did not need the sun, moon and stars for light. He created the light on the first day. He chose to create the heavenly bodies to continue to give light upon the earth for a reason. These various lights in the sky, each one also unique, were to separate the day from the night, to be for signs, for seasons, and for measuring time.

IV Fauna

1. 1. 1. On the fifth day, God created all the creatures that fly or live in the water, the birds that flew in the lower part of the firmament that God created on the second day, huge whales, and all the fish and other sea creatures, all after their kind. Whales produced whales, birds produced birds, fish produced fish. Whales did not turn into dogs, nor did dinosaurs become birds. Everything was created complete, as its own specific kind.

      2. On the sixth day, God created all the land creatures, again, each after its own kind. He created all land animals, insects, worms, and domestic animals. Note that the word translated cattle includes all livestock. Within that group were various kinds, as well, including sheep, oxen and horses. Each creature from bugs to buffalo was created as its own kind, able to reproduce its own kind and no other. Dogs reproduced dogs, turtle, turtles, and monkeys, monkeys – not man.

         1. Variations within species have happened and are still observed. However, one kind has never, ever produced another kind. With all the millions upon millions of fossils that have been found and carefully scrutinized by evolutionary scientists desperate to find a link from one species to another, not even one.

Conclusion

1. What we see in the world around us is powerful evidence of an almighty, creative and caring God. We see all kinds of plants and animals. Each one is uniquely created, able to produce its own kind. The more we know of these kinds, the more complex we realize they are, and the more impossible evolution of any kind becomes. Of course, the very problem of where the very atoms that everything is made of is an insurmountable problem without God, but then all the unique kinds of life we see fairly shout of the power, care and glory of their Intelligent Designer, who has revealed Himself to us as the God of the Bible.

2. We will one day have to face out Maker! The created world, itself, tells us so, so that the Bible says that anyone who ignores or denies this fact, is without excuse (Romans 1:20).

   1. We are unable to give an answer for our lives to our Maker on our own, but Jesus Christ our Creator stands ready to forgive all who put their trust in Him and to fit each one for eternity. Our God truly is an awesome God, and He truly loves us.
